Well, I know it's been a while. We've been so busy growing up and learning new things, (yes all of us) that sometimes I'm not sure whether I'm coming or going.
My little man (he hates when I call him that, but he will always be my little man) is about to start 8th grade and will be attending online school so he can be at home and get his lessons done at his leisure, which works better for him. We've struggled through the years to get him to to work and if it has to be done right away, he has a harder time, whereas if he can take his time and get it done, it works out better and gets done.
Cheyenne has really exploded with her abilities. She is saying so much (pretty much anything you say to her, she will repeat). Every morning, she walks Grandpa to the back door (so she can shut the door when he leaves) and while he is walking out to his van, Cheyenne will yell out "Have a good day!" It is really adorable. When I put her to bed at night, I tell her "I'll see you in the morning" and she repeats her version of it. So cute. She'll see something on tv and ask me "see that?" and I'll say "Yes, I saw it. Did you see it?" and she will say "Yes, I saw it" . It amazes me not that she is carrying on a small conversation, but that she is using the words correctly. Instead of "Yes, I see that" she uses the word "saw" Amazing. She knows all the letters of the alphabet, but can't say the entire alphabet yet...we're working on that. She recognizes all the letters, tells me the sound and most of the time, a word that starts with that letter. She recognizes all of her numbers up to 10 and we are working up to 20 now.
She loves to paint! She has recently discovered her love for finger paints and has been making some beautiful artwork. In the past, I couldn't get her to finger paint for anything, but now she loves to paint her hands and do handprints. She also loves to paint with pipe cleaners and cut up paper towel tubes.
She knows so many things that I can't list here, but she really is so smart and doing so many things that preschoolers do that I have decided to start preschooling her in the next couple of weeks. I have been accumulating workbooks and arts & craft supplies along with tons of cute ideas for different arts and crafts as well as preschool lessons and activities I have found online. I actually did some pages with her this morning, out of curiosity and got a worksheet that I had laminated and gave her some dry erase crayons (awesome!) and asked her to circle a certain color bear and she did it! Then she had to match a symbol to the bear that had that symbol on its tummy. I was shocked when I told her to draw a line to the one it matched and she did it! She drew a line. We hadn't really worked on drawing specific shapes or anything, so I was surprised. So I am eager to get her bedroom straightened up and set up a little work area either back there or at the kitchen table area and work with her.
So that's what's been going on here....oh yeah, my fun experience....
I had to go to the emergency room with a kidney stone about a month ago and come to find out, it is 14 mm which is a little bigger than my middle finger according to the doctor. So needless to say, it's not going anywhere. It was blocking my kidney and my white blood cell count was spiking so they had to rush me up to emergency surgery and put a stent in the tube that goes from my kidney to my bladder so my kidney could drain. I had a severe infection and was sick for about 3 days after I got home from the hospital running fever up over 102.5, aching and not to mention the pain from the procedure. I was supposed to follow up with the surgeon a week later to have the stone blasted, but the day before an appointment to make sure there was no more infection, they called me and told me they just figured out (this was almost 2 weeks later) that they didn't take my insurance. So now I have this stent and kidney stone in me that I have no one to take out. I couldn't get in to my regular doctor for 3 to 4 weeks then waiting on a referral and actually getting an appt with the urologist could take months, so I had to find a new primary care doctor and I go in Tuesday to see them to get a referral to a urologist. I'm hoping they can do this quickly as the doctor that did this originally told me it could stay in for up to a couple of months and Monday will be 5 weeks. I am just ready for this to be over and am tired of the constant pain and discomfort. I can't even go to the grocery store or clean house because if I'm on my feet for more that 3 or 4 minutes, the pain gets worse. So I hope things go quickly and smoothly so I can get this taken care of and resume normal life. As normal as my life is....
