Marble Painting

Cheyenne loves to paint and is always requesting to "go paint".  I realized she needs more than just a piece of paper and a plate of paints.  I mean, that would get boring after a while, although she never complains.

Well, thanks to Pinterest, I have found several painting ideas and new ways to paint.  One thing I came across was Marble Painting.  It just so happens, as it often does, that Cheyenne was hanging on the arm of the chair while I was scrolling for new painting ideas, and when she saw the Marble Painting, she immediately asked me what it was and when I told her she wanted to do it.  While we don't have any marbles (that I know of, I'm sure there's some somewhere around here) we do have a few sets of Magnetix, so I went in and got a few of the balls for her to use since they are about the same size as marbles.

She made three Marble Paintings and wanted to make more, but I told her we could do it another time maybe with different colors.  This time, she chose pink, purple, and blue and it turned out really cute!

I put a little paint in 3 different cups and dropped 2 balls in each one. I also cut a piece of paper to fit inside a metal pan we had.  Then we shook the balls around in the paint to get them covered.  Getting them out of the paint is a little messy and you'll end up with paint all over your fingers, and some paint coming off of the balls, but I eventually used a popsicle stick to dig it out and then drop it in the pan.

Then Cheyenne went to town shaking the pan back and forth until all of the paint was off of the balls.

Then we coated them again, put them back in the pan and shook the pan the other way.  Cheyenne had a blast and I think they turned out pretty cool.

We'll probably be doing this again pretty soon.

More Painting Fun

We started our weekend off like most of our days lately...swimming!! Cheyenne went out to her pool to swim yesterday morning and had a blast as usual.

Blowing bubbles

Kicking and swimming

Swimming on her back...lol

Of course there was some water table fun too!!

...and who doesn't love sticking sponge strips down the front of their bathing suit??

She loves her beach ball too!!

Have I mentioned how this girl tans??  Every time she comes in from swimming, she is so dark.

This is the most censored picture I had, but look at that tan. What is amazing is right at the bottom of her rear end, but I'm not putting that one on here, but I would give anything to tan like that.

Well, last night, while getting Cheyenne ready for bed, she felt a little warm to me, so I took her temperature, thinking it would only be about 100* or 100.5*.  She had a 102.5* fever.  I gave her some Tylenol and put her to bed hoping she would be better this morning.  Her fever was down this morning to 101.5* and it continued to go down throughout the day, but never dropped below 100*.  So when she asked to go swimming again, I had to tell her that she couldn't because she had a fever. Keep in mind, that Cheyenne never acts sick when she has a fever.  Only when her fever was up above 103* when she had strep a while back did she act sick and just lay around.  So she never thinks she's sick and wants to do things as usual.

So this afternoon when she got up from her nap, she wanted to fingerpaint, which, since it involved staying out of the pool and keeping relatively relaxed, I was more than happy to oblige.

Cheyenne loves to paint and we paint quite often. Somtimes, she will paint for 10 minutes and be done. Sometimes she paints a little longer.  Today, I wanted to try something that I saw on Pinterest and Cheyenne loved it and wanted to keep doing it.  After 3 paintings, I had to make her stop so we could fix dinner.  But we will definitely be doing it again, since she loved doing it and was so proud and thought it was so neat!!

First, we took a piece of paper and folded it in half. Then we scooped up paint on the tip of a spoon and dropped it near the fold on the paper. You have to make sure you do it near the fold and the middle of the paper or the paint will smoosh out. Once we folded the paper, we rubbed all over to spread the blobs of paint out to create a design.  She thought her creations were so neat!!

I didn't get any pictures of the process, until they were finished, but they are so cool and we will be doing this again!!

Here are her wonderful creations!!

She said this one was a butterfly

She thought these were so neat and wanted to do more, but I had to fix dinner, so we will definitely be doing these again!! She loved spreading out the paint and seeing the designs it made.

We Tried Something New!!

Yesterday, I thought I'd try something new.  I'll admit it, I'm addicted to Pinterest, follow way too many people and pin way too many things that I'll probably never get done.  But today, I was looking at my Playtime Fun board to try to find something new and different for Cheyenne to do that I already had all the supplies for.  Enter Sidewalk Paint!!

The best part... I had everything on hand!!  Cornstarch, water and food coloring! How easy is that??  I assure you, it is very easy.

I just mixed 1/4 cup cornstarch and 1/4 cup water.  Cheyenne decided she wanted pink and green sidewalk paint, so that's what we made. Of course, Cheyenne had to put some color in.

Then I just stirred it up well until the color was to Cheyenne's satisfaction and this is what we ended up with!  Awesome bright paint!

So we took it outside and I let Cheyenne have at it.  It was kind of hard to really "paint" because we have such a textured sidewalk, but Cheyenne had a blast and used up almost all of the paint.

Even Devon gave it a try.....

Cheyenne loved trying all of her different sized paint brushes and seeing which ones worked better than others.

This was a lot of fun and it was fun to see Cheyenne having such a good time.  She loves to paint and she thought it was pretty cool that the colors got lighter as the paint dried.  she also thought it looked like chalk once it dried.

Here are her beautiful creations.  She told me that the big yellow one in the middle that looks like it has legs, is an elephant.  This girl has quite an imagination sometimes and I love to hear the things that she comes up with and imagines.

She also did a little color mixing and found that the neon green and neon pink made a nice peachy color.  She thought that was pretty cool too!

This was so easy and only took less than 5 minutes to get it made up. We will definitely be doing this again and again this summer!!

Cheyenne's 3rd Birthday Weekend

We have had a rough couple of weeks since Cheyenne's birthday, so I haven't had a chance to write about it until now, since things have finally settled down.  A few days after her birthday and party, she got some sort of stomach virus and got sick a couple of times, then when I thought it was gone, it came back a couple of days later and she got sick a couple more times over the next 36 hours.  I think we are finally done with it (fingers crossed) and can get back to our normal yet chaotic existence.

I can't believe my little baby girl is 3 years old!  Has it been that long?  It sure doesn't seem like it, but every day is a blessing, albeit sometimes quite challenging.

We celebrated Cheyenne's 3rd birthday a couple of weeks ago and as in past years, it was lots of fun and also as in past years, I was glad when it was over.  Huge thanks go out to my awesome friend Vanessa, who took some beautiful pictures to help capture this special day, since I was running around like a chicken with my head cut off making sure everything was just right.  Thanks Vanessa!!

But we had a great time at her party and she was so excited when her cousins from Austin got there!

Her party was at one of the spraygrounds down the street from our house and a lot of her friends came to celebrate her special day!

They played on the sprayground....

Ate some cake....

All in all, it was a great day of celebration with our friends and family!

The next day,Cheyenne's cousins had to go back home, but we had a chance to have a little bit of fun before they had to leave.  My grandparents' neighbor Charles came out to play with all of the girls and they all had a great time!  Cheyenne especially loved Charles's Texas Rangers float.  She hardly got off of it.

Then it was time for presents from Mimi & Pop....

If you have ever tried to get a group picture of kids, you understand that this was as good as it was going to get!!  Here's all the cousins sitting together, briefly....

So we had a great weekend and were so happy that my sister, brother-in-law and sweet little nieces were able to make it up for Cheyenne's special weekend!!

Mother's Day 2012

Well, Mother's Day came and went without a lot of fanfare, but I had a good day with my kiddos.  Devon came over for the weekend to celebrate Mother's Day with me and we had fun!

Grandpa went and got breakfast from McDonalds, because really, McDonalds has awesome breakfast!   Not very good for you, but hey, it's Mother's Day...let's be crazy!  Have you tried their Bacon, Egg and Cheese McGriddles? Well, you haven't lived until you have!!  They are awesome!!  Instead of biscuit, they use pancakes as the "bun" and it is delicious!!

Then my kids gave me a beautiful card that they both signed and a cool glass ball like the ones I used to collect before I lost my entire collection last time I moved.  I had about 20 or 25 of them and had been collecting them for years, so now it's time to start a new collection.

How cute....

Then since it was such beautiful weather, we went outside to play for a while and I brought out a new bubble set that I had gotten on clearance after Easter (although it has nothing to do with Easter) for about $3.  I had gotten it and was holding it for Cheyenne's birthday, but I have so many other things stuffed away for her birthday that I figured I'd give her the bubble set since she LOVES blowing bubbles so much.

I love this thing because you just pour the bubbles in the bucket, put the lid on and stick the wands in the slots and take them out and blow bubbles.  No carrying a bottle around to get spilled...believe me, we've lost so much bubble solution due to little hands tipping the bottle over or accidentally knocking it over as it sits on the ground.  This doesn't spill!!

Anyway...lots of bubble fun ensued!!

This bubble solution and these wands make TONS of bubbles!!

And some VERY big bubbles!!

All in all, we had a good day and as usual, I was the one taking the pictures, and I didn't get anyone to take a picture of me and my kids on Mother's Day.  Oh well, maybe one day I'll get a picture of me with my kids.

I hope everyone else had a great Mother's Day too!!

14 Years Old ?? Already??

I can't believe it's been 14 years since my little man was born.  He's growing so fast and will be all grown up before I know it.

We had a little celebration the weekend after his birthday when he came over to visit and we had a good time.

There was a little swimming:

There was a little cake:

of course I forgot to take the picture before I cut into it

There were some presents:

Then there was the sweetest goodbye the next day when it was time for Devon to go back home:

It was a great weekend and I just can't believe how time flies!
